TruBrain is a blend of nootropics, minerals, amino acids and other nutrients that work together synergistically to improve cognitive function.

It is manufactured by a company, also called TruBrain, based in California.

Developed by neuroscientists, Dr. Andrew Hill and Dr. Aida Attar who studied the brainwaves of high functioning subjects when they were at their most and least productive.

In doing so, the neuroscientists identified certain patterns. When their subjects were functioning at their highest potential, they produced high alpha brain waves in the part of the brain responsible for executive functioning.

They took these results and began researching substances that would reproduce this state naturally in the brain. In doing so, they discovered several ingredients that worked together to produce the same alpha brain waves.

TruBrain is produced in multiple forms – as a drink, capsule and snack bar. All have a similar list of main ingredients with extra nutrients added depending on the product.

Piracetam

One of the most well researched, widely used and popular nootropic supplements. It improves blood flow in the brain and enhances neuron connections.

The nootropics work together to increase blood flow to the brain. This delivers more glucose and oxygen to the cells resulting in increased brain plasticity and metabolism. The brain’s ability to make new and better connections faster is improved.

Carnitine and citicoline aid neurons in breaking down glucose and fatty acids for fuel and citicoline is a building block for making acetylcholine.

The nootropics also make acetylcholine receptors more sensitive resulting in faster and better communication between neurons.

Magnesium improves the communication between brain cells.

Stacking, the practice of using all these ingredients together, has a synergistic effect causing each ingredient to be more effective than it would be on its own.

TruBrain comes in several different forms for convenience and ease of use.

• Drinks
  There are 3 versions of 1 oz. shots. The daily version, which can be ordered with caffeine or caffeine-free, is meant to be consumed daily while the boost version is meant to be used whenever enhanced performance is necessary.
• Snack Bars
  Chocolate-flavored bars made with natural ingredients. These are breakfast substitutes or an occasional snack.
• Capsules
  Three different capsules are provided. One for the morning, one in the afternoon, and a third as a boost when needed.

Possible side effects of the racetam family (Oxiracetam and Piracetam) tend to be rare and mild and mainly include headaches.

Even less frequently instances of anxiety and insomnia have been reported.

Noopept also has very minor side effects including possible headaches, irritability and dizziness.

L-Tyrosine should not be taken if you are experiencing the following issues or on the following medications:

Although they do not provide links to any actual studies undertaken in house, there are multiple studies on the individual ingredients in their product which suggest that they are effective.

TruBrain has received a rating of B- and a score of 2.86 out of 5 from the Better Business Bureau. Most of the complaints are regarding customer service, billing and delivery issues versus the product itself.

TruBrain has been on the market for 7 years and there are multiple reviews available for the product. Of 36 reviews on Amazon, 70% are 4-star and above giving the product a 3.8-star rating overall.

Most reviewers found the product to be effective.
